The gift she’ll love long after Mother’s Day

Roses are red, violets are blue. This Mother's Day, don't give — help do!

A home is a partnership.

It’s a daily rhythm of tasks and chores, meals and schedules, alarm clocks and bedtimes. Laughter. Love. You’ve got the laundry, I’ve got the lawn. We’ve got each other’s back.

There’s always something to do.

Some of it is fun, like a backyard BBQ with good friends. Some of it not so much, like laddering up to clean the eaves. Our Home Managers understand that proper home maintenance can devour what precious time remains after all is said and done at the end of a hectic week.

A busy home though, is also an opportunity to show your partner just how much they mean to you. This Mother’s Day, treat her with a gift she actually wants:

Time.

Time to just do nothing.

Or better yet, time to do something special together.

Maybe you can finally get to something on your fun “to do” list that you can never quite seem to fit in.

In the popular book The 5 Love Languages, two of the ideas they touch on are Acts of Service and Quality Time.

Acts of Service are expressions of appreciation, like doing the dishes, or even something grander, like cleaning the garage. Really any act of service that shows you care about your partner qualifies.

The by-product of Acts of Service is where it gets interesting, because by taking care of “chores” you free up the ability to enjoy Quality Time together.

Spring is one of the busiest times of the year for home maintenance, but it’s also the best season to try and grab some of that elusive Quality Time.

Imagine having time to get outside together, walking and reconnecting. It’s been a long cold winter, and those magical, sunny spring afternoons that warm your hoodie should be embraced guilt-free, without the “to do” list beckoning you home.

The nicer weather means summer is not far off. How about working on your fitness together by running or biking in the fresh spring air?

If there are little ones in your family make sure they get in on the fun too. A trip to the playground, family Frisbee in the park, or a hike along a scenic trail with a picnic along the way will create happy memories.

Acts of Service allow Mom to take that cooking class or those art lessons she’s always wanted. It’s easy to see how the gift of time can be appreciated long after her special day.

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 12.

Let our expert Home Managers and Pros take care of the Acts of Service, so you can take care of the Quality Time. To help, we’re offering 10% off all home services booked for Mom between now and May 12th. Make her day special by mentioning the code MOMLOVE to your Home Manager.
